What helps a husband and wife get through life’s hard times? When you no longer feel the love that brought you together? Today on “A Slice of the Good Life”, Jim Burns of the HomeWord Center for Youth and Family at Azusa Pacific University discusses “ahava love”- a hebrew word for love that encapsulates the kind of love that Christ has for us and why we should strive for it in our relationships when times get hard:
In 1 John 4:10-11. the Apostle John says, “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” From the Scriptures, we learn of God’s intentional love towards us, that He has saved us, persevered for us, and will never leave us. This certainty can be our inspiration when our relationships hit hard times and we would rather run away and not face our problems. Christ stayed, and so we too can stay. Christ loved, and so we too can love.
