Have you felt the impact of a mentor in your life? Someone who comes along side you to encourage and edify you spiritually in your walk with God? Jim Burns of the HomeWord Center for Youth and Family at Azusa Pacific University discusses the lasting impact his mentor has had in his life and how it continues to effect him to this day:
Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.” Perhaps you are in need of such sharpening in your Christian walk. Seek out mentors from among the wise men and women God has placed in your life and purpose to emulate them.
Proverbs 9:9 says, “Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.” Perhaps you have wisdom to share with those younger or less-experienced in your church. Seek to make yourself available and look for those who may be in need of a mentor. You never know how God might use you!
