Jim Daly is heard by more than 2.9 million listeners a week. He comments on leadership and power. He explains, “Everything in this life, in this world pulls at us – power, prestige, ego, pride. All of that pulls on us. And the political arena feeds it like nothing else. You feel power. I think Christian leadership, if we’re not careful, can be seduced by that. (We) begin to think that we’re something special in one way or another. We have to be very leary of that.”
First Corinthians 10:2 says, “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.” Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction…” Oh the stealthy movements that stir in our hearts – unknown to us, but, often picked up by those nearest us. It comes in the form of a comment, flippant about things we once cared deeply. An aire of entitlement, “They owe me! Don’t they know who I am or how much I’m worth?” Thanks for the reminder, Jim! We need it.
